Privacy policy

This notice explains how the personal data of visitors of Cleitext (https://cleitext.com) is processed, under Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Data controller

Serafino Christian

What data we process and why

Browsing data

The systems running the site record some technical data, such as the IP address, the browser, the pages visited and the time. It is used to run the site and protect it from abuse, on the basis of the controller’s legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and kept only as long as needed.

Contact forms

If you write to us through a form, we use your name, email, phone (if given) and message only to reply to you, at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Messages are kept as long as needed to handle them, and no longer than 24 months.

Matomo

We use Matomo to measure how the site is used: pages visited, time spent, the device and the site of origin. The service is provided by analytics.dueclic.eu. It works without cookies and anonymously, only for aggregate statistics about this site, on the basis of the controller’s legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Provider’s privacy policy: https://matomo.org/privacy-policy/.

Cleitext sites and Cleitext Toolkit for Plesk

Installation reports. About once a day, Cleitext sites send us their address, an installation id, the Cleitext version and the themes and plugins installed, with their versions. We use it to know which versions are in use and to warn the sites hit by a faulty update, on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Each site can turn it off in Settings → General; sites not heard from for 180 days are deleted.

Toolkit licenses. When you enter a license key in Cleitext Toolkit for Plesk, it sends our license server the key, the host name of the Plesk server and a random server id, to bind the license to that server, and checks the license once a day. We keep them as long as the license exists, to provide what you bought (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Anonymous Toolkit statistics, only if you turn them on (they are off by default): once a day the Toolkit sends how many Cleitext installations it manages, its version, the Plesk version and a random server id that is not linked to the license. We store no domains, email addresses or IP addresses. Turning the option off deletes that server’s record; records not updated for 180 days are deleted.

Toolkit downloads from cleitext.com are counted per version, without keeping your IP address in the counter (the browsing data above still applies).

Cookies

We use technical cookies, needed for the site to work, and other cookies only with your consent. The list, and the way to change your choices, are in the cookie policy.

Who receives the data

The data is processed by people authorized by the controller and by providers helping us run the site, appointed as processors (Art. 28 GDPR). We do not sell or publish the data. If a provider is outside the European Union, the transfer only happens with the safeguards of Articles 44–49 GDPR, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

At any time you can ask the controller for:

  • access to your data and a copy of it (Art. 15)
  • correction of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
  • erasure of your data (Art. 17)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • your data in a portable, readable format (Art. 20)
  • to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
  • to withdraw your consent, without affecting earlier processing (Art. 7(3))

Write to [email protected]: we answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the one of the country where you live.

Other information

Giving your data is optional, but without some of it we cannot answer your requests. We take no decisions based solely on automated processing. This notice may change: the date of the last change is below.
