A cookie banner is not a formality: the Italian Garante wants “Reject” as visible as “Accept”, no pre-ticked boxes, and no tracking before consent. The Privacy & GDPR plugin of Cleitext does all of it.

The cookie banner, done right
- “Accept all” and “Reject all” side by side; the X means no consent
- Categories: preferences, statistics, marketing
- Scripts and videos held until consent, Google Consent Mode v2
- Asked again after six months, changeable at any time
If the site only uses technical cookies, no banner is needed and none is shown. The rules are in the Garante’s guidelines.
Policies and data requests
Fill in who the data controller is and what the site does: the plugin writes the privacy and cookie policies as pages made of blocks, in every language, with a cookie table always up to date. When someone asks for their data, export or erase it from Privacy → Data requests, with a log of what was done.
Proof of consent
Every choice made in the cookie banner is kept in a consent log, without names or full IP addresses: date, choices and version of the policy. If someone asks, you can show what they accepted and when. The log is cleaned automatically after the period you choose. Pages and plugins can also declare their own cookies, so the cookie table stays true when you add a service.
The plugin is free and it is not included in the base package: install it from the catalog only if your site needs it. It does not replace a lawyer, but it gives you the tools the rules ask for, and texts you can adapt to your case.
Visitors can change their choice at any time from the round button in the corner of the page, or from a link in the cookie policy, and the banner follows the language of the page.
Using analytics? The rules of each service are applied by themselves: see Matomo or Google Analytics.
