Moving a WordPress site built with Spectra to Cleitext

Pages built with the Spectra plugin on WordPress now arrive in Cleitext as Prisma blocks, with their backgrounds, waves, images, galleries and buttons, ready to edit.

Many WordPress sites of small businesses are built with Spectra, a popular plugin of design blocks. Until now, moving them meant redoing the pages by hand. Not anymore: with Prisma active, the WordPress importer turns those blocks into Prisma blocks, keeping their settings.

What arrives

  • Sections with their backgrounds, overlays, waves and spacing
  • Headings with highlighted words and Google fonts
  • Images with their shapes, sizes and captions
  • Info boxes and buttons, with their links and colours
  • Galleries with carousel and lightbox
  • Entrance animations and the blocks hidden on phones or computers

Three steps

  • In WordPress, open Tools → Export and download the export file
  • In Cleitext, install and activate Prisma and the WordPress importer; in Settings → Prisma set the content width and spacing your old site used
  • Open Import from WordPress in the admin menu, upload the file and wait for the report

Pictures are copied to your new site, old addresses keep working with automatic redirects, and the colours of your palette and of your texts come along. The report tells you clearly if something could not be converted.

And then you keep editing

The pages are not a frozen copy: they are made of Prisma blocks, with the same General, Style and Advanced tabs you were used to. Change a photo, a colour or a text, and see the result right away.
