Widgets — bring your blog to life

Free plugin

Your latest news, always in view

Show your latest posts on the home page, categories in the sidebar, a search box in the footer. They update by themselves every time you write.

Widgets

Five handy blocks

Help visitors read more

Put them anywhere: in a page, in a post, in the sidebar or in the footer of your theme.

Recent posts

Your latest posts as a list, a grid or a magazine page with a big first story. With pictures, dates and excerpts, if you like.

One topic at a time

Show only the posts of some categories or tags, even in tabs: “All”, then one for each topic.

Recent comments

The latest approved comments, with who wrote them and on which post. A sign your blog is alive.

Tag cloud

Your most used tags, bigger the more posts they have. Visitors see at a glance what you talk about.

Categories

All your categories with links and the number of posts, subcategories under their parent.

A blog post with a sidebar: search and recent posts with pictures

In a sidebar

Always something to read next

Put a search box and your latest posts beside every article: readers find the next story without going back to the home page. The list updates itself when you publish.

  • In Appearance → Areas, or in any page
  • With pictures and dates, or just the titles
Widgets

Nothing to look after

Set it once, it keeps up

Publish a post or approve a comment and the widgets change by themselves. They take your theme’s fonts and colors and keep pages light.

  • They match your theme
  • They speak the language of the page
  • The post being read is left out of the list
  • Fast pages: no extra scripts

Get started

Ready in a few minutes

Install it

In Plugins → Add New, find Widgets, then click Install and Activate.

Add a block

Open a page, or your theme’s sidebar or footer, and pick a block from the Widgets group, such as Recent posts.

Choose how it looks

Pick the layout, how many posts and which topics. Leave the title empty for the usual one, or write your own.

Questions

Do I have to update them by hand?

No. Every new post, comment or category shows up by itself.

Will they match my site’s style?

Yes, they use your theme’s fonts and colors, whatever theme you choose.

I am moving from WordPress: will my widgets come along?

Yes. Install this plugin and the importer turns the recent posts, comments, tag cloud, categories and search blocks into these, with the same options.
