Campus: custom fields for every site, and the free ones you already have

Cleitext now has custom fields in its free core: field groups, options pages, Field blocks and fields bound to any block. Campus adds a visual builder like ACF Pro, with repeaters, galleries, maps and an ACF importer.

A restaurant has dishes and prices, a hotel has rooms and services, a tour operator has stages, meeting points and photos. Writing all this in the text of a page works, until you want to change the layout or show the prices somewhere else. Custom fields give each piece of information its own box: you fill it in once, and the page shows it where it belongs.

Free, in every Cleitext

With the last three versions, custom fields became part of the free core of Cleitext. You do not need any plugin to use them:

  • Field groups: fields for a content type, a page template, a category or people’s profiles
  • Options pages: settings for the whole site, such as contacts and opening hours, written once
  • Field blocks: the Field block shows a value on the page, Field rows repeats its blocks for every row of a list
  • Bind to a field: a heading, a paragraph, an image or a button can take its text, picture or link from a field
  • Hide on screen: a field group can hide what editors do not need, such as the excerpt or the comments

Campus: the builder, like ACF Pro

Campus is the new paid plugin for those who build sites for others. Fields are made with the mouse: drag them in order, put them in tabs, choose where each group appears and when a field shows. It adds repeaters, flexible content, galleries, maps on OpenStreetMap, two-way relations, options pages with their own menu, blocks made of fields without code and JSON sync between a staging site and the live one.

Coming from WordPress? With Campus active, the WordPress Importer (1.22 or later) rebuilds your ACF field groups and brings their values, repeaters and ACF Blocks included. Campus costs €29 a year for one site, €99 a year for ten sites and €190 a year for unlimited sites.

Nothing breaks, ever

Fields made with Campus are saved in Cleitext itself: if the license ends, or if you turn Campus off, every field keeps its values and every page keeps showing them; only the builder becomes read-only. And like every update of Cleitext, Campus is tested at every change, so updates never break your site.
