What’s new in Cleitext: catalog, SEO, privacy and AI assistants

From 0.9 to 0.16: a catalog of plugins and themes, Yoast-style sitemaps and SEO, GDPR-ready privacy and analytics, and an AI assistant that writes with blocks.

In a few weeks Cleitext went from 0.9 to 0.16. These new features of Cleitext share one idea: doing from the admin, in one click, what other CMSs leave to paid plugins or to a developer.

Cleitext new features

A catalog of plugins and themes

In Plugins → Add New and Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme you find the official catalog: search, install, activate. Every package is checked before installing, with an Ed25519 signature and its SHA-256, and when a new version is out a notice offers the update. The Canvas theme, the one of this site, and Pulsar are now free too: see the Plugins and Themes pages.

SEO and sitemaps like Yoast

The SEO plugin was rewritten after Yoast SEO, and it also does something Yoast keeps for its paid version:

  • XML sitemaps ready for Search Console: index, images, other languages, always up to date
  • SEO and readability analysis in the editor, with a Google preview and traffic lights
  • Breadcrumbs, linked structured data, title templates and a social image per page
  • Automatic redirects when a page changes address or parent
  • Search Console verification recognised by itself, DNS included

Privacy and analytics, by the rules

The Privacy & GDPR plugin follows the Italian Garante’s guidelines: a banner with “Accept” and “Reject” side by side, scripts held until consent, a consent log, privacy and cookie policies written as block pages, and export or erasure of people’s data on request. The Analytics plugin connects Matomo, Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and Search Console: the privacy rules of each service apply by themselves.

An AI assistant that writes with blocks

Connect your assistant (ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client) from the AI assistants section, or write your requests in the admin chat with the AI provider you prefer. The assistant uses the editor’s blocks and the theme’s sections, acts with your permissions and leaves drafts to review: pages stay editable by anyone.

And also

  • One-click updates of the CMS from the dashboard, with a count in the menu
  • Tags next to service pages: Front page, 404 page, Privacy policy…
  • Two-factor authentication always optional
  • The browser tab named after the site

How to update

If you already run Cleitext, open Updates in the admin and press the button: backup, migrations and restart are automatic. If you do not have it yet, now is a good time.

More on each topic: building a site with AI, the catalog, sitemaps and Search Console and the cookie banner.
